Galentine's Day is a holiday created by Amy Poehler's Parks and Rec Character Leslie Knope that occurs every year of February 13. On the show, Galentine's Day is a celebration of female friendships - "Ladies celebrating ladies." The WGC has transformed Galentine's Day into celebrating sisterhood and platonic friendships among people of all genders.
All are invited to the Mead for a closer look at some of our favorite gals in the collection. Join us for waffles and informal conversation led by women who make up the Mead’s curatorial, education, and programming departments.
Following this event, stop by the WGC from 10am to 5pm to make a card or write a love-note to your friends, best friends, or BFFs! We'll have supplies, cookies, and, most importantly, waffles!! It is meant to be fun day and an opportunity for all of us to reflect on how important friendship and love are outside of romantic relationships.
